Innovation is not something that is limited to our R&D labs. Innovation at Draka takes many forms, such as new business models, advanced logistics solutions, and improved customer services.

On-going innovation is essential to our customers’ and so our own success. Innovation enables us to meet new challenges, respond to new requirements, and further strengthen our market presence. Moreover, we see innovation as an important means by which we can meet our obligations to society.

Research and development

Innovation at Draka takes many forms. Most obvious are our R&D activities, which are directed from within our divisions. This ensures that our R&D efforts reflect our customers’ needs – in fact, a lot of our R&D is done together with our customers – and we are careful to ensure that Draka as a whole benefits from the specialist knowledge of our individual divisions.

Customer-focused engineering

We devote a substantial part of our annual revenues to R&D, with particular emphasis on application engineering and the further improvement of materials and production processes.

Business processes and services

Business processes and services are another prime focus for innovation within Draka. The e-commerce and just-in-time logistical solutions of our Energy & Infrastructure| Europe business enable customers to see into our inventories so they can keep their inventories as low as possible.

Or take our Marine, Oil & Gas business, which has set up special distribution centres for the marine, oil and gas industry. These not only reduce the amount of inventory our customers need to carry, but also mean that should a problem arise we can help them solve it fast, so minimising lost production.
